Welcome to Fayetteville, NY

Overview

Manlius is a town on the eastern edge of Onondaga County, bordered to the north by Cicero, to the east by Madison County (town of Chittenango), to the south by Pompey and to the west by DeWitt. Manlius includes three villages: Fayetteville, Manlius and Minoa, as well as several hamlets. Green Lakes State Park, with two unique lakes, is within the town. Manlius is the third-largest suburb in Onondaga County, with more than 32,000 residents.

Essentials

For grocery shopping, Manlius has a Tops Friendly Markets store on West Seneca Street and smaller stores like the Nice-n-Easy Grocery Shoppe on East Genesee Street. Fayetteville has a Wegmans supermarket on East Genesee Street. For retail shopping, The Towne Center of Fayetteville is a large shopping plaza that replaced a mall that was torn down. In DeWitt, 7 miles west, you’ll find the busier ShoppingTown Mall, which has a Sears, Macy’s, JC Penney’s, and other stores, as well as a Regal movie-theater multiplex.

Recreation & Entertainment

For outdoor entertainment, Green Lakes State Park has two glacial lakes surrounded by upland forests. The park has a golf course and offers camping. Manlius also has Mill Run Park, Pratts Falls County Park and Indian Hill Memorial Park. For more entertainment choices, there’s the Manlius Art Cinema movie house, the Caldwell (Art) Gallery, and the Syracuse Talent Company, which offers cabaret-style theatre.

Transportation & Traffic

The New York State Thruway crosses the north part of Manlius. Route 290 crosses the northwest corner of the town. Route 5 and Route 173 are east-west highways. Route 257 heads north-south.

Pros & Cons

The parks and cultural attractions make Manlius a pleasant place to live. Manlius is one of the largest towns in the county, but it doesn’t have a big-town feel. The three villages have charming, historic downtown areas.
